Choco Day and Chocolate in Italy
October 12 is ChocoDay in Italy, a day to enjoy chocolate. According to Italy Magazine
Its purpose is to celebrate and raise awareness about cioccolato puro - the one made with just cocoa mass and cocoa butter and no added fats or vegetable oil.
Italy is known for its pure chocolate, cioccolato puro. In fact, solid chocolate was first made in Italy - in the northern Italian city of Turin, still one of the best cities for chocolate.
This month the city of Perugia, in central Italy's Umbria region, celebrates chocolate at Eurochocolate, a 9-day festival dedicated to everything chocolate. Besides chocolate in a variety of forms for tasting, there will be cooking classes and exhibits and even chocolate nightlife.
But if you can't make it to Perugia for the festival you can still stay in the Etruscan Chochotel (book direct), the world's first hotel dedicated to chocolate. Perugia, often called the chocolate city, is also home of the famous Baci chocolates.
Even if you're not in Italy, be sure to have some chocolate on October 12.
